Investing in the future leaders of Europe now

Tony Blair recently said: “The real test of a religion is whether in an age of aggressive secularism it has the confidence to go out and make its case by persuasion”. (Source: The Church Times)

The Bible&Culture course aims to give precisely that confidence to the next generation of Christian leaders in Europe.

• Do you know how to apply your Bible knowledge to help others understand the relevance of its razor sharp wisdom for the problems and dilemmas of this present age?
• Can you explain to a friend or colleague the underlying worldview of a filmmaker or TV producer and how he influences the perspectives of viewers?
• Can you explain to a businessman why ‘God’s economy’ may work better than the Global economy?

This is the practical Word-to-World teaching we give to emerging European leaders in our 7-week Bible&Culture course. We equip them for these very tasks and help them make sense of their own faith.

Former student Iryna Vasylkova left her old position at a Christian University to teach English at the best secular University in Ukraine. She says: “To my surprise and joy, the topics on the academic programme we cover aligned with the ones I studied in the summer at Schloss Mittersill, i.e. Religion, Culture, Media, Environmental protection. It was such a tremendous thrill to have the opportunity and privilege to deliver the Good News to the audience of students seeking Truth during our course on Religion (8 lessons). I couldn't resist presenting material based on passages from the Bible culminating with the only way to the True Living God through Jesus. We had discussions and  essay writing resulting in reflection and seeking! “

Through Bible&Culture future leaders and influencers of Europe will be able to articulate their faith and become agents of a Christian Renaissance in Europe.

We have to offer the course at a rate that is affordable for our target group – emerging leaders, often fresh out of university. Since it costs about 1900 € per participant, and we want to give scholarships to people who cannot even pay half of that, we need to raise scholarship funding for 50 % of the cost.

You could play a significant role in making this hope a reality by funding a $1000 scholarship or other contribution to help someone like Iryna who might not otherwise be able to get this training.

Last year we completely filled all 25 available places with carefully selected and very keen applicants from 15 Western, Central and Eastern European countries. Will you enable us to do this again this year?

The demand is there – we just need the help of generous supporters like you who have a heart for the future of Europe, who want to see young and promising people truly able to articulate and demonstrate their faith.
